Today’s Number To Know looks at the inexperience at forward in Carolina’s lineup for tonight’s game vs. Buffalo.

5 — Forwards in the lineup for Carolina tonight who have played a full NHL season. Of the 11 players dressed at forward for tonight’s game, only Alexander Semin, Nathan Gerbe, Jiri Tlusty, Jay McClement and Riley Nash have spent a full season on an NHL roster.

Victor Rask and Patrick Brown are both set to play their third career NHL game, while Chris Terry, Zach Boychuk and Elias Lindholm all spent time in both the NHL and AHL in past seasons. Newcomer Brad Malone played 32 games with Colorado and 35 with AHL Lake Erie last year, the third straight season he split time between the two leagues.

The Sabres, by comparison, dressed 10 forwards with at least one full season of NHL experience on Monday.
