0 — Number of regular season games Jordan Staal has missed since joining the Hurricanes for the 2012-13 season. That will change after Staal suffered a broken leg in Tuesday’s preseason game, an injury that will likely require months of healing. Staal played all 48 games in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign, and was one of two Carolina players (the other was Ron Hainsey) to play in 82 games last season.
The Staals have generally been very durable. Prior to a foot injury suffered in the 2010 postseason, Jordan played all but one regular season game in his first four NHL seasons. Brother Eric also played in all but one game in his first five NHL seasons and has been reliably in the lineup for most of his career.
