The Carolina Hurricanes came into Chicago and played a perfect road game as they defeated the Blackhawks, 2-1 on Sunday night.

The Canes have now won two games in a row and three of their last four.

Eddie Lack stopped 35 shots for the win and was just three seconds away from his first shutout of the season.  Lack is now 3-0-1 in his last four starts.

After a scoreless first period, Justin Faulk got things started with his patented wrist shot which beat Corey Crawford with just 19 seconds left in the second period.  Faulk now has 14 goals for the season which is tied with Jeff Skinner for the team lead and has 12 points in his last 10 games.

The defenseman also led the team with 24:30 of ice time, had five hits and five blocked shots.

Victor Rask made it 2-0, at 4:48 into the third period.  Jeff Skinner picked up the primary assist on both goals.

Lack got as close as one can get to a shutout but a puck leaked through him with just three seconds left. Still, he made several fine saves to preserve the win for Carolina and was awarded the fireman's hat after the game.

The Canes will next take on the Devils in New Jersey on Tuesday night.

Game Notes:

  • The Canes were outshot in this one 36-27.  Rask led the way with five shots on goal.
