Game Notes

  • Last night the Hurricanes wrapped up a five-game home stand in a 2-0 shutout loss to the Florida Panthers. The Canes went 1-3-1 in their home stand which shouldn't be surprising given the trade deadline took veteran players off the Canes' roster and the three losses were to teams fighting for a playoff spot. The one overtime loss was to tonight's opponent, the Columbus Blue Jackets, in a 4-3 shootout just this past Monday night.
  • The Canes are 2-0-1 against the Blue Jackets this season and tonight's game will close out their series.
  • Since Monday's game the Blue Jackets have posted two wins, both with Sergei Bobrovsky in net, and he's confirmed to get the start again tonight. Brandon Dubinsky is expected to make a return after missing the last two games with an illness. Defenseman Justin Falk is expected to be a healthy scratch, which should serve to reduce confusion with Canes defenseman Justin Faulk who has two goals and two assists against the Blue Jackets this season.
  • With the 5 pm start, neither team is holding a formal skate this morning, so official injuries and scratches won't be reported until closer to game time.
