So, yeah, it's mid-June, the Stanley Cup Final is done, we're still a week away from the NHL Draft, and there are tumbleweeds blowin' around these here parts.

So why not reminisce a little, on a day that's seen its fair share of important Canes occurrences?

365 days ago, the Hurricanes announced Bill Peters as their new head coach, throwing a curveball to most everyone who thought that the hiring process would turn out to be nothing more than a coronation of Ulf Samuelsson. And it's been 3,288 days - nine (!!) years ago today - since Rod Brind'Amour politely informed Gary Bettman that his time to hold the Stanley Cup was up, thank you very much.

So let's hear your June 19th stories. Two questions - and you can answer either or both:

  1. What is your most memorable recollection of June 19, 2006, aside from the obvious? What sticks out in your mind about that day?
  2. What has been the best thing about Bill Peters' first year in charge?

And...go!
