So, yeah, it's mid-June, the Stanley Cup Final is done, we're still a week away from the NHL Draft, and there are tumbleweeds blowin' around these here parts.
So why not reminisce a little, on a day that's seen its fair share of important Canes occurrences?
365 days ago, the Hurricanes announced Bill Peters as their new head coach, throwing a curveball to most everyone who thought that the hiring process would turn out to be nothing more than a coronation of Ulf Samuelsson. And it's been 3,288 days - nine (!!) years ago today - since Rod Brind'Amour politely informed Gary Bettman that his time to hold the Stanley Cup was up, thank you very much.
So let's hear your June 19th stories. Two questions - and you can answer either or both:
- What is your most memorable recollection of June 19, 2006, aside from the obvious? What sticks out in your mind about that day?
- What has been the best thing about Bill Peters' first year in charge?
And...go!
