The Hurricanes goalie situation just got more interesting, with Carolina trading for Vancouver netminder Eddie Lack, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston. The Canucks will receive a 2015 third-round pick (66th overall) and a 2016 seventh-round pick from the Canes.
Pierre LeBrun, a reporter for ESPN and TSN, said the Hurricanes are expected to trade goalie Anton Khudobin today. Moving in Lack for Khudobin — both are unrestricted free agents after the 2015-16 season — would save Carolina $1.1 million against the salary cap for the upcoming campaign.
Lack, 27, is 34-30-9-6 in two NHL seasons with the Canucks, boasting a career .921 save percentage and 2.43 goals-against average. The Swedish-born goalie is 6'4 and was an undrafted signing by Vancouver in 2010.
