The Carolina Hurricanes prospects are playing competitive hockey so far at the Traverse City Tournament.

It seems that newly signed goalie, Rasmus Tirronen was the star of game one for Carolina as he made 27 saves on 28 shots to keep the game close while the Canes lost 1-0.

Michael Smith has the recap of the game at this link.

Canes drop tournament opener, 1-0

Game two was a different story as the Hurricanes won a barn-burner, 5-4 in overtime against the Dallas Stars prospects.  Sergey Tolchinsky scored two goals, including the game-winner , and also chipped in an assist for the winners.

Defenseman Brett Pesce also scored twice.

Remember that Victor Rask had an excellent tournament for Carolina last year which was a starting point for him to make the team out of training camp.  We will see if Tolchinsky can continue his scoring.
