The Carolina Hurricanes lost their second straight game in overtime, this time by a score of 1-0 to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on Monday night.
Former Hurricane, Andrej Sekera notched the game-winner off of a juicy Cam Ward rebound at 2:47 into the extra period. Ward had been perfect up to that point and made 26 saves on 27 shots for the game.
Coach Bill Peters seemed to go with a defensive strategy and he was playing two defensemen and one forward during the extra period this night. Jeff Skinner, Ron Hainsey, and John-Michael Liles were on the ice for the deciding goal.
Cam Talbot got the 29 save shutout for the home team.
The Canes will move on to Vancouver and will face the Canucks on Wednesday night.
Game Notes:
- Noah Hanifin, Eric Staal, and Victor Rask led the team with four shots on goal each.
- Hanifin also led the team with three blocked shots.
