Carolina Hurricanes Assign Five Players to Charlotte Checkers

Daniel Altshuller, Josh Wesley, Clark Bishop, Erik Karlsson and Kyle Hagel will be in Charlotte for the start of their camp on Monday.

In advance of the Charlotte Checkers’ preseason training camp beginning on Monday, the Carolina Hurricanes assigned five players to their minor league affiliate on Saturday afternoon.

Goaltender Daniel Altshuller, defenseman Josh Wesley, and forwards Clark Bishop, Erik Karlsson and Kyle Hagel will report to Checkers camp next week. The move leaves 46 players remaining in Canes camp, and notably Alex Nedeljkovic stays put ahead of Altshuller on the goaltender depth chart, perhaps giving us an indication of how the Canes see their goalie hierarchy playing out as the season approaches.

Training camp roster down to 46 ahead of three-game trip

Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned goaltender Daniel Altshuller, defenseman Josh Wesley and forwards Clark Bishop, Erik Karlsson and Kyle Hagel to the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers.

Carolina’s training camp roster now stands at 46 players as the team heads on a three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricanes will practice in Raleigh on Sunday prior to traveling to Minnesota to take on the Wild Sunday evening. The Charlotte Checkers begin their 2016 training camp on Monday.
