Carolina Hurricanes Roster Trimmed to 29 Players

Three additional players were trimmed from the Carolina Hurricanes roster Saturday as the team continued to fine tune the opening night roster.

Forwards Patrick Brown and Brock McGinn were immediately assigned to the Charlotte Checkers. Ryan must pass through waivers first and will be assigned to Charlotte on Sunday once he clears.

The roster now stands at 29 players and with a maximum of 23 active players allowed heading into the season, six more assignments will need to occur before Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 5:00 pm.

HURRICANES TRIM ROSTER TO 29 PLAYERS
Ryan, Brown, McGinn to be assigned to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned forwards Patrick Brown and Brock McGinn to Charlotte of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, forward Derek Ryan will be assigned to Charlotte pending waivers on Sunday.

The Hurricanes training camp roster now stands at 29 players. NHL rosters must be trimmed to 23 active players by Tuesday at 5 p.m. An updated roster is attached to this release.
