Martin Frk was placed on waivers yesterday, presumably for the purpose of freeing up a roster spot for Ryan Murphy’s return from injured reserve.
Today at noon, we found out that Frk was re-claimed by the Detroit Red Wings.
Frk will join the Red Wings organization as soon as he can. The upside in having Frk is his goal-scoring ability, as the Czech-born winger potted 27 goals in 67 games at the AHL level with the Grand Rapids Griffins last season.
Frk played two games as a member of the Hurricanes after being claimed off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings. The decision to waive him on Detroit’s part was considered as highly questionable, but unfortunately for both parties his stint in Carolina didn’t really do anybody any favors.
Now, the move has virtually been undone, as Frk will head back to the Griffins, which is what Detroit originally wanted when they waived him in the first place.
Frk attempted one shot on goal and posted a minus-3 rating with the Hurricanes. His on-ice corsi share was just 45.83% in those two games.
