Coming off an impressive 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday, the Hurricanes will ice a similar lineup to the one that came up with that win, but one familiar face will be returning to the squad for tonight’s contest. Justin Faulk will be removed from the injured reserve, and he’ll re-join the team’s defense once again. Here’s what we can expect to see from the ‘Canes tonight:
Jeff Skinner - Victor Rask - Elias Lindholm
Teuvo Teravainen - Jordan Staal - Sebastian Aho
Brock McGinn - Derek Ryan - Lee Stempniak
Joakim Nordstrom - Jay McClement - Viktor Stalberg
Ron Hainsey - Justin Faulk
Jaccob Slavin - Brett Pesce
Noah Hanifin - Matt Tennyson
Cam Ward
Eddie Lack
Injuries and Scratches: Ryan Murphy (healthy), Klas Dahlbeck (healthy), Bryan Bickell (multiple sclerosis)
So Tennyson has earned another game in the line-up after his performance on Saturday. Faulk slides in for Dahlbeck, and Ward has earned another start after another solid effort against the Capitals.
On the other side of the ledger, here’s how the Sharks skated at their morning skate today:
Joe Pavelski - Joe Thornton - Joel Ward
Mikkel Boedker - Logan Couture - Joonas Donskoi
Patrick Marleau - Tomas Hertl - Kevin Labanc
Matt Nieto - Chris Tierney - Tommy Wingels
Marc-Eduard Vlasic - Justin Braun
Paul Martin - Brent Burns
Brenden Dillon - David Schlemko
Aaron Dell
Martin Jones
So a well-balanced group for the Sharks tonight. A third line featuring Marleau and Hertl is pretty striking, as is the balance on defense with Burns on the second pairing. This will be Dell’s second career start in the NHL. In his first start against the Islanders, the 27-year-old turned aside 21 of 23 in a winning effort. He currently has a #shutout in tonight’s game.
