Julien Gauthier steals the show at Canada/Russia game with spectacular goal

The Val d’Or Foreurs center put on quite the display last night.

The Canadian Hockey League is hosting an all-star series pitting the best of junior hockey against a team of Russian juniors. Last night, Canes prospect Julien Gauthier channeled some Swedish guy named Forsberg (you may have heard of him) in scoring what will undoubtedly be the goal of the tournament, for either side.

Gauthier, the second of two Hurricanes first-round picks in this past June's NHL Draft, has been on a tear in the Quebec league, as chronicled on this very website earlier this week. Clearly, we have a lot to look forward to.

Oh, as if there weren't more, Canes prospect Callum Booth pitched a 16-save shutout, and the result guaranteed the Canadians a series win. Pretty good night of hockey right there.
