Carolina Hurricanes at Boston Bruins: Projected Lines and Rosters

New, comment

One change for the Canes as Brock McGinn returns for his first game in a week.

NHL: Carolina Hurricanes at Boston Bruins Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Despite tonight’s game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins being the definition of a December four-pointer, neither coach is making many substantial changes from their last game, both of which ended in losses.

Bill Peters is staying with almost the same lineup that got out to a quick start on Tuesday at the Rangers (let’s just all agree to pretend the third period never happened). The one change is that Brock McGinn is drawing back into the lineup after missing three games with an upper-body injury, replacing Andrej Nestrasil who is consigned to the press box again.

Here’s what Peters had to say to the press about McGinn after the Canes’ morning skate:

We tried to get him a little healthier than he is. He's not going to get to 100 percent probably from now to the end of the year, but he should be closer. It's as much time as we can afford to give him right now. We miss him. We miss him on the PK. We need his energy, his forecheck and his puck pressure.

And now, your lines:

Jeff Skinner - Victor Rask - Elias Lindholm
Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen - Lee Stempniak
Brock McGinn - Dr. Derek Ryan - Phil Di Giuseppe
Joakim Nordstrom - Jay McClement - Viktor Stalberg

Ron Hainsey - Justin Faulk
Jaccob Slavin - Brett Pesce
Noah Hanifin - Matt, Lord Tennyson

Cam Ward
Michael Leighton

Scratches: Andrej Nestrasil (healthy), Ryan Murphy (conditioning), Klas Dahlbeck (healthy), Jordan Staal (IR-concussion), Bryan Bickell (IR-multiple sclerosis), Eddie Lack (IR-concussion)

The Bruins were wondering whether they would have captain Zdeno Chara (lower-body) back, but he seems unlikely to play again tonight despite being at practice this morning for the first time in a week. In the absence of both Chara and John-Michael Liles (concussion), that B’s defense corps is...rather anonymous:

Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak
Tim Schaller - David Krejci - David Backes
Matt Beleskey - Riley Nash - Austin Czarnik
Ryan Spooner - Dominic Moore - Jimmy Hayes

Torey Krug - Adam McQuaid
Kevan Miller - Brandon Carlo
Joe Morrow - Colin Miller

Tuukka Rask
Anton Khudobin

Scratches: Noel Acciari (lower body), Zdeno Chara (lower body)
