Game Notes

  • The Carolina Hurricanes will look to extend a 10 game point streak inside PNC Arena when they host the Blackhawks for the only time this season tonight.
  • The Canes are 2-2-2 in the front half of back to back games so far this season which is a number that needs to improve going forward.
  • As the Canes start a back to back, Chicago will finish one. The Blackhawks deafeated the Predators 3-2 in Nashville Thursday night.
  • Ryan Murphy was absent from practice yesterday as Bill Peters said the young defensemen received stitches in an “uncomfortable place” and needed to rest. He is a game day decision against Chicago.
  • If Murphy is unable to go, Klas Dahlbeck would likely slot in. Dahlbeck has not seen game action with the Hurricanes since a November 12th victory over Washington. However, he did spend a 2 week conditioning stint in Charlotte in early December.
  • Cam Ward will get the start in goal against Chicago. Ward has historically performed well against the Hawks with a record of 3-1-2 and a 1.72 GAA.
  • Teuvo Teravainen will get his first crack against the team that traded him this summer. Teravainen never quite lived up to expectations in Chicago so he was dealt along with Bryan Bickell to the Canes over the summer for a minimal return. Expect Teuvo to be fired up for the game.
  • This will be the last game for the Hurricanes inside PNC Arena for 2016 so the boys should have some extra incentive to send their fans and the year out with a bang.
  • The Homegrown Series continues tonight. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition T-shirt, sample beer from Lynnwood Brewing Concern, enjoy live music at the intermissions and much more!
  • Not to mention...
