Hurricanes sign Patrick Brown to one-year deal
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Patrick Brown to a one-year contract that will pay him $650,000 in the NHL or $75,000 in the AHL next season. Brown's new salary is a slight cut from his NHL salary in 2015-16 but a significant raise over his previous AHL salary. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and has played 14 career games with the Hurricanes, seven in each of the past two seasons.
Brown was one of seven players issued a qualifying offer yesterday by the club. This coming season will be the final one for which Brown is exempt from waivers, and he will be eligible to move between the Hurricanes and Checkers without needing to be placed on waivers.
