The Hurricanes re-called goaltender Daniel Altshuller from Charlotte on Tuesday. Altshuller will join the team tonight in advance of their game against the New Jersey Devils. Altshuller will serve as the back-up goalie to Cam Ward, thus appearing to end Jorge Alves’ inspiring run in that role.
The move comes following Eddie Lack’s diagnosis with a concussion. It is unclear as of now whether this concussion is a separate injury from the one that held Lack out for the better part of November and some of December.
