Game Notes

  • Eddie Lack was recalled from Charlotte on Sunday; he will be on the Hurricanes active roster for the first time in two months. Lack’s season has been stalled since suffering a concussion in practice November 21st.
  • The Hurricanes have dropped five straight games going into the All-Star break last weekend. Prior to the losing streak the team was on the doorstep of a coveted Wild Card spot. They will need to get the train back on the tracks tonight in a “four point game” against a Flyers team that sits in the second wild card spot.
  • Justin Faulk represented the Canes in the All-Star game last weekend and represented us well. Faulk earned five points in two games ultimately helping the Metropolitan Division win it all. Check out his weekend highlights:
  • Don’t forget that the Canes are offering some lower-level tickets for $27 apiece tonight in honor of Faulk’s All-Star appearance. (You’re probably wishing it was Noah Hanifin that got the call instead, but hey, $27 is still a bargain.)
  • Jordan Staal will play his 300th game tonight in a Hurricanes jersey. Staal has tallied 61 goals and 106 assists for 167 total points during his career since being traded to Carolina in the 2012 offseason.
  • Derek Ryan and Brock McGinn will make their first-ever appearances against the Flyers tonight. Ty Rattie and Matt Tennyson have also never played against the Flyers, which would change should either or both draw into the lineup tonight.
  • The Hurricanes trail all-time against the Flyers with a record of 39-67-24-3, including a poor 22-31-13-1 at home.
  • Tonight is the final meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Flyers in Raleigh. They will play twice again down the stretch, on March 19 and April 9, in Philadelphia, the latter being the regular-season finale.
  • The Canes are 17-3-4 in games in which they score three or more goals this season - but two of those three regulation losses came to the Flyers. Carolina is winless against the Flyers this year, losing 6-3 on the road on October 23 and 4-3 at home a week later.
