Game Notes

  • The Hurricanes and the Ducks are tied all-time with a 14-14-7 record, including a 5-8-4 record in Anaheim.
  • Tonight’s matchup marks the second of two games between the sides — the Ducks took the October 29th game in a shootout in PNC Arena.
  • The Hurricanes have built a modest point streak at the Honda Center, earning at least one in each of the last three games.
  • Teuvo Teravainen (3g, 0a) and Sebastian Aho (1g, 2a) both had three points against the Ducks last season. Aho has registered four points in three career games against the Ducks.
  • Tonight’s game is the fourth of the five game West Coast road trip. The Hurricanes have picked up two points in three games.

Storm Advisory

  • The NHL has announced that it will introduce player tracking in the upcoming All-Star game. Maybe this is the advanced metric the Canes will need to finally get to the root of their problems. [TSN]
  • A first for the Hurricanes (probably): they were mentioned in passing in a Golf World article Q&A with soon-to-be new owner Tom Dundon. [Golf World]
  • Yahoo compiled a list of the NHL’s biggest bloopers this season. You should probably read until the end. [Yahoo]
  • The Penguins are rooting for Marc-Andre Fleury’s return to the ice following a lengthy concussion recovery. [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette]
  • Bill Peters spoke to the media yesterday, and since the Canes aren’t taking a morning skate today this might be all we get until game time. [Hurricanes]
