Game Notes

  • Hurricanes defenseman Ron Hainsey will record his 300th game played in a Hurricanes jersey tonight. In his 299 games, the Connecticut native has tallied 58 points (58g, 43a). Hainsey ranks third among all Carolina skaters in ice time.
  • Carolina and Pittsburgh are 60-62-17-1 (140) all-time, including 34-29-8 (71) at home and 26-33-9-1 (69) in Pittsburgh. The Canes are 0-2-0 so far this season against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions and need to pick up a big win tonight to set the tone in this tight playoff race.
  • The Hurricanes will visit the Penguins again on April 2nd, but tonight is the last Penguins appearance in Carolina this season.
  • In Sunday’s game against the Maple Leafs, Jeff Skinner tied GM Ron Francis for 10th all-time in games played for the team since the franchise relocated to Carolina.
  • The Hurricanes will host the 2nd annual Sports & Entertainment Career Fair at PNC this afternoon. The Canes will host a wealth of executives from companies in the sports industry, and tickets to the career fair also include admission to tonight’s game. Check it out here:
  • The Canes are also beginning a military snack drive tonight leading up to Military Appreciation Day on Sunday against Calgary. Bring granola bars, chewing gum or beef jerky to any entrance tonight or Friday and you’ll be entered to win one of five prizes, including a Military Appreciation replica jersey signed by the entire team.
