Derek Ryan is one goal away from matching his total from last season after the center gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild early in the first period of Thursday’s game. Ryan's goal came midway through a power play, collecting a rebound from a Noah Hanifin shot. It's the third game in the last four that the Canes have scored with the extra attacker.
