Lines and Rosters: Canes at Panthers

Ekblad is back from concussion, which could mean a lot for the Panthers offense. More lines and roster news here.

The Canes blew a 3-2 lead in the last minute against the Flyers on Sunday, falling in OT 4-3. But they have to regroup quickly to take on the Panthers tonight in Sunrise, Fla., especially with Aaron Ekblad back in the mix for Florida.

On the Hurricanes side, Valentin Zykov returned to morning skate with a no-contact jersey. Things don’t look too differently from Sunday’s matchup linewise, either.

Here’s how they lined up at morning skate:

Sebastian Aho - Jordan Staal - Teuvo Teravainen

Brock McGinn - Victor Rask - Elias Lindholm

Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Lee Stempniak

Joakim Nordstrom - Patrick Brown - Phil Di Giuseppe

Jaccob Slavin - Justin Faulk

Noah Hanifin - Brett Pesce

Klas Dahlbeck - Ryan Murphy

Cam Ward

Eddie Lack

Ward will play in net tonight for the Canes. Last month, he went 29-31 in a shootout loss to the Panthers. Peters said this morning he has “a plan in place” as far as the goaltender situation on this road stretch.

Ekblad’s return knocks Jakub Kindl out as a scratch, and moved the Panthers to assign MacKenzie Weegar to AHL Springfield.

Here’s how the Panthers could line up tonight:

Jonathan Huberdeau - Aleksander Barkov - Jaromir Jagr

Jussi Jokinen - Vincent Trocheck - Reilly Smith

Thomas Vanek - Nick Bjugstad - Jonathan Marchessault

Shawn Thornton - Derek McKenzie - Colton Sceviour

Keith Yandle - Aaron Ekblad

Michael Matheson - Jason Demers

Mark Pysyk - Alex Petrovic

Reto Berra

James Reimer

Third-string goalie Reto Berra is in for the night, with Roberto Luongo still out and Reimer needing a rest from picking up game after game with Luongo out. Berra’s last NHL start was April 9th of last season, in which he made 41 saves in a 1-0 shutout against the Jets.
