Game Notes

  • Lee Stempniak recorded his second multi-goal game as a Hurricane on Thursday night at Montreal. The veteran is just 2 goals shy of 200 on his career. The New York native spent 62 games last season in a Devils sweater.
  • Forward Teuvo Teravainen extended his point streak to three with an assist on Elias Lindholm’s goal Thursday, who also carries a 9 game point streak into tonight. Teravainen will look to add to his young point streak tonight.
  • Speaking of streaks, the Hurricanes extended their point streak to 9 games with a win in Montreal on Thursday. They sit 5 points in back of the WC2 occupying New York Islanders with one game in hand.
  • Much of the Hurricanes success of late can be attributed to the impact of forward Jeff Skinner. Skinner currently has 6 goals in the past four games, tying a career high goal streak. He also rides a 5 game point streak of his own. His team-leading 29 goals sets him one away from reaching the 30-goal mark for the third time in his 7 year NHL career.
  • Carolina trails all-time against the Devils with a record of 52-67-16-1. They have losing records both on the road (23-36-1 with 7 ties) and at home (29-31-0 with 9 ties).
  • Tonight is the last matchup between these teams this season. The Hurricanes have compiled a 0-2-1 record against the Devils so far this season, dropping 4-1 and 3-1 decisions in Raleigh and a 3-2 shootout loss in Newark.
  • ICYMI: A young Hurricanes fan in Montreal made a sign asking for a puck in his first ever NHL game. In addition to the puck, the 9-year-old got to meet the Hurricanes after watching a big win. Read more here:
