Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche: Lines and Rosters

Phil Di Giuseppe out with an upper body injury will likely mean 7 defensemen for the Canes. See how that may play out.

A tough home stretch for the Carolina Hurricanes has left them in a hole they probably can’t see out of, but after a road win against Arizona on Sunday night, the Hurricanes could start a bit of early road momentum tonight against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche’s momentum has been similar to their team name: a fast slide downwards. In the last 12 games, they’ve lost 10.

But one of their two losses was a road win at PNC Arena.

So despite the incredibly low points total the Avalanche have mustered, the Hurricanes need the win more for revenge than anything else.

The Hurricanes will be down a forward due to an upper-body injury sustained by Phil Di Giuseppe, which left him off the ice at morning skate. Peters said they would be rotating through 11 forwards, and seven defensemen would be dressed for the game.

Here’s how the Hurricanes lined up at morning skate:

Rotating Door - Jordan Staal - Elias Lindholm
Sebastian Aho - Victor Rask - Teuvo Teravainen
Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Lee Stempniak
Joakim Nordstrom - Jay McClement - Patrick Brown

Jaccob Slavin - Justin Faulk
Noah Hanifin - Brett Pesce
Klas Dahlbeck - Ryan Murphy
Matt Tennyson

Eddie Lack
Cam Ward

Injuries: Brock McGinn, Phil Di Giuseppe

After a great performance in Arizona on Sunday, Eddie Lack will return in goal for the Hurricanes. He saved 24 of 25 shots against the Coyotes.

No word from the Avalanche accounts on how they lined up at morning skate, but we do know that Calvin Pickard will get the start in goal.

Here’s the lines for game day, according to Left Wing Lock:

Gabriel Landeskog - Nathan MacKinnon - Rene Bourque
Sven Andrighetto - Matt Duchene - Mikko Rantanen
John Mitchell - J.T. Compher - Blake Comeau
Mikhail Grigorenko - Carl Soderberg - Matt Nieto

Mark Barberio - Erik Johnson
Fedor Tyutin - Tyson Barrie
Francois Beauchemin - Patrick Wiercioch

Calvin Pickard
Jeremy Smith

Injuries: Semyon Varlamov, Nikita Zadorov
