Rookie forward Sebastian Aho ties the game at three with 10:56 remaining in the third period. Teuvo Teravainen and Justin Faulk were credited with the assists on the equalizing goal.
The goal was challenged by New York after Elias Lindholm screened New York Rangers goalie Antti Raanta in front of the net. The goal was confirmed after review.
The rookie would strike again on the power play just minutes later to give the Hurricanes the 4-3 lead at the 12:28 mark of the third period. The goal was assisted by Elias Lindholm and Jordan Staal.
