Jeff Skinner struck twice in the first period to keep the game tied. After the Hurricanes went down 2-1, Skinner scored on the power play to tie the game at two. The goal was his 34th of the season and marks a career high for the 24-year-old.

The Hurricanes went down 3-2 but it was Skinner who would score again to tie the game with just seconds remaining in the period. The two goals broke a tie with Jeff O’Neill and gave Skinner sole possession of second place in Hurricanes history with 178 career goals.
