A fairly uneventful morning skate for the Carolina Hurricanes will see only one lineup change for tonight’s matchup with the New York Islanders. Eddie Lack will get the start, his first of the season against the Isles, after Cam Ward took a maintenance day at the morning skate. With just two home games remaining, it seems likely that Bill Peters is rolling each goaltender out once in front of the home crowd in the last week of the season, and Ward is probably going to play Saturday against the Blues.
Here are the players whose jerseys will be given to a few lucky fans after the game tonight:
Sebastian Aho - Jordan Staal - Elias Lindholm
Joakim Nordstrom - Victor Rask - Teuvo Teravainen
Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Lee Stempniak
Bryan Bickell - Andrew Poturalski - Brock McGinn
Jaccob Slavin - Brett Pesce
Noah Hanifin - Justin Faulk
Klas Dahlbeck - Matt Tennyson
Eddie Lack
Cam Ward
Injuries and Scratches: Jay McClement (lower-body), Ryan Murphy (lower-body)
The Islanders, meanwhile, have their backs against the wall. They need a win and help from elsewhere to stay alive in the playoff race tonight. A Toronto win or an Islanders regulation loss means that the Isles will be eliminated from the playoffs. With that in mind, they’re going with the same lineup that pulled out a win against the Predators in Nashville on Tuesday, including skating seven defensemen and Thomas Hickey filling in at left wing:
Anthony Beauvillier - Anders Lee - Josh Ho-Sang
Thomas Hickey - Josh Bailey - Brock Nelson
Jason Chimera - Alan Quine - Andrew Ladd
Stephen Gionta - Connor Jones - Cal Clutterbuck
Nick Leddy - Johnny Boychuk
Dennis Seidenberg - Calvin de Haan
Scott Mayfield - Adam Pelech
Jaroslav Halak
Thomas Greiss
Injuries and Scratches: Shane Prince (lower-body), Casey Cizikas (hand), John Tavares (lower-body), Travis Hamonic (upper-body), Nikolay Kulemin (upper-body), Ryan Strome (wrist), Mikhail Grabovski (IR concussion), Jean-Francois Berube (healthy)
