With the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup on Sunday night, it brings an end to the 2017 edition of the Canes Country Playoff Pick ‘Em Challenge. And with the Penguins doing so in six games, we have a surprise winner that leapfrogged a few other players to claim the top prize.

Congratulations are in order to reggie101, who never led the competition except for the standings that mattered, taking the crown with 47 points. A correct pick of Pittsburgh in the final was enough to leapfrog four other commenters, all of whom picked Nashville, to take the title by a single point over Feast of Maximum Occupancy, who held the lead for the entire competition before falling just short in the end.

Even more impressive was that reggie101 only missed one series in the final three rounds, picking the Rangers to beat the Senators in round two but otherwise picking the winner correctly in each of the other six series. Well done!

As far as the Canes Country writing staff mini-table went, Matt takes top honors, finishing fourth overall with 42 points and holding off an incredible late surge from Cody who picked two of the final three series exactly right. There was a big logjam behind Matt, with Cody and Justin at 40 points and Jamie one behind with 39.

The standings for the Final are below, and underneath that is the master spreadsheet of everyone’s picks from the entire playoffs. Congratulations again to reggie101, and let’s do it again next spring. Hopefully you’ll have the chance to actually pick the Hurricanes in this pool one of these days!
