Carolina Hurricanes at Buffalo Sabres: Rosters, Notes, How to Listen, Game Discussion

Welcome to Canes Country’s first game night hub of the new season. (Subtitle: hooray, we’ve made it!)

Jamie Kellner

We anticipate the first major round of roster cuts coming after tonight’s game, adding to the five that departed yesterday, which included all of the Canes’ 2017 draft class save Martin Necas. With that in mind, the Canes will send out a relatively young roster tonight in Buffalo, likely many players’ final chance to make an impression on the coaching staff in camp in game action.

However, it won’t be an entirely developmental roster, owing to NHL rules that require a certain number of veterans in a preseason game.

Here’s how the Canes will line up tonight:

Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Phil Di Giuseppe
Josh Jooris - Martin Necas - Aleksi Saarela
Brock McGinn - Andrew Poturalski - Andrew Miller
Sergey Tolchinsky - Lucas Wallmark - Gregory Hofmann

Noah Hanifin - Brett Pesce
Jake Bean - Josh Wesley
Haydn Fleury - Trevor van Riemsdyk

Jeremy Smith
Alex Nedeljkovic

And as for the Sabres:

Zemgus Girgensons - Ryan O’Reilly - Kyle Okposo
Benoit Pouliot - Sam Reinhart - Steve Moses
Evan Rodrigues - Seth Griffith - Cliff Pu
C.J. Smith - Kyle Criscuolo - Justin Bailey

Brendan Guhle - Rasmus Ristolainen
Jake McCabe - Taylor Fedun
Casey Nelson - Cody Goloubef

Robin Lehner
Linus Ullmark

A reminder that tonight’s game will be broadcast via online audio only. There will not be a sanctioned video stream of tonight’s game. With that in mind, we remind you that posting links to illegal streams violates the SB Nation community standards, and any comment which includes a link to an illegal stream will be deleted in its entirety without notice.

But enough dire warnings. Let’s get on to enjoying actual competitive hockey!
