Carolina Hurricanes (0-0-0) vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (0-0-0)
Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - 7:00 PM
Amalie Arena – Tampa, FL
SB Nation Rivals – Raw Charge
The Carolina Hurricanes started preseason play last night with an overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres and now turn their attention to a fellow Atlantic Division foe, the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s a quick turn around for the Canes, who quickly caught a flight after last night’s game. They will head home after tonight’s game to take on the Lightning again, this time at PNC Arena.
If you missed it last night, the recap of last night’s game now includes a short video highlight package, so if you’d like to actually see what the Canes looked like rather than painting mental pictures, you’re in luck.
Reading Assignments
- The Hurricanes and Erik Cole will make an announcement on Wednesday night before the first preseason game. What could it be?
Hurricanes and Erik Cole are making an announcement at 5:30 prior to preseason game Wed night at PNC. Gotta be joining front office.

Y'know, in yesterday's interview, Erik Cole said he had always hoped he would end his playing career with the Hurricanes ;)

- Eric Staal’s teammate in Minnesota, Wild captain Mikko Koivu, agreed to a two-year extension with the Wild. The deal will pay him $6 million in 2018-19 and $5 million in 2019-20.
- Josh Jooris scored a goal in his preseason debut last night. But don’t expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows. Let’s refer to Five For Howling for a grade on how he finished the year with the team.
- And now, your Daily Duchene, today an interview of the Avs’ disgrutled center by Denver Post writer Mike Chambers. Interesting wording in his responses:
