The Carolina Hurricanes were dominant down the stretch against the Detroit Red Wings in game one of the Traverse City Prospect Tournament on Friday night.

Warren Foegele kicked off the third period scoring with a fantastic individual effort, winning the faceoff, going to the net, and banging home the rebound to make it a 4-2 game.

In the latter stages of the frame, Janne Kuokkanen made another big time play, stealing the puck in the Detroit end, maintaining possession down low, and finding Julien Gauthier camped out in front to make it a 5-2 lead for the Hurricanes.

Nick Schilkey went on to score on the empty net as the Hurricanes defeated the Red Wings 6-2 in game one of the prospect tournament.

Game two will be Saturday at 3:30 pm against the New York Rangers.
