The Carolina Hurricanes have their work cut out for them tonight as they take on the Boston Bruins on the road. The Bruins are 7-1-2 in their last ten games and sit in second place in the Atlantic Division with 50 points.
The Bruins haven’t played since Tuesday after their game against the Florida Panthers was postponed due to a large snowstorm that hit the Northeast. This is the first game of a back to back for Boston as they head to Pittsburgh tomorrow night to take on the Penguins. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy stated Friday that his goaltenders will split the pair of games.
The Hurricanes are fresh off a strong 4-0 win over Pittsburgh on the road. The team will look to keep the momentum going against a strong Bruins team that is tied for the league lead in fewest goals against with the Tampa Bay Lightning. A strong year from Tuukka Rask (2.09 goals against average, .925 save percentage) has given Boston a shot at solidifying a playoff spot as the season moves along. However, former Canes netminder Anton Khudobin is the confirmed starter for the Bruins. Khudobin is 8-2-3 this season.
The Canes did not take a morning skate, but with Marcus Kruger coming back off injured reserve, he is likely to take a spot in the lineup from either Josh Jooris or, as we guess below, Phil Di Giuseppe.
Here are the Hurricanes lines for tonight:
Sebastian Aho - Jordan Staal - Teuvo Teravainen
Brock McGinn - Victor Rask - Justin Williams
Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Elias Lindholm
Joakim Nordstrom - Marcus Kruger - Josh Jooris
Jaccob Slavin - Brett Pesce
Haydn Fleury - Justin Faulk
Noah Hanifin - Trevor van Riemsdyk
And here’s who Boston is rolling with this evening:
Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak
Jake DeBrusk - David Krejci - Ryan Spooner
Danton Heinen - Riley Nash - David Backes
Tim Schaller - Sean Kuraly - Noel Acciari
Zdeno Chara - Charlie McAvoy
Torey Krug - Brandon Carlo
Matt Grzelcyk - Kevan Miller
