Game Notes

  • Tonight’s tilt is the first of three games between these teams this season. The Canes will host the Bruins again on December 23rd and face off in TD Garden on March 5th. Both of the later games will feature the Hurricanes wearing their Hartford Whalers alternate jerseys.
  • The Bruins dominated the season series last year with a 3-0-0 record, with the Hurricanes picking up only one point via overtime out of the possible six.
  • Teuvo Teravainen led the team against the Bruins with five points (2g, 3a) in the three games last season.
  • With an assist on Sunday night against the Islanders, Sebastian Aho has tied Ron Francis’ franchise record season opening point streak at 11 games. Aho has been catalyzing play on his line, assisting Micheal Ferland on five of his six goals and all three of Teravainen’s goals to date.
  • Jordan Staal has been extremely hot in the faceoff circle, ranking first in the NHL in faceoffs won (158) as well as faceoff percentage (62.2%) among centers who have taken more than 120 draws.
  • Jaroslav Halak is confirmed in net tonight for the Bruins:
