Game Notes

  • ICYMI, Victor Rask, Pete Mrazek, and Brett Pesce (who are all injured in some capacity) were out skating prior to practice yesterday. Rask and Pesce stayed around for the beginning of practice as well.
  • Tonight’s matchup is the second of four between the teams this season. The Hurricanes won their first against Columbus and their second game of the season on October 5th in Ohio by a score of 3-1.
  • The Hurricanes are averaging 41.7 shots on goal per game. That’s at least 5.2 more shots per game than anyone else in the NHL. Carry on.
  • Both Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen have modest three game point streaks. Either Aho or Teravainen have recorded a point on 23 of Carolina’s 49 goals this season.
  • The Hurricanes have scored on the power play in four consecutive games this season. Justin Faulk, Jaccob Slavin, and Dougie Hamilton have all scored on the man advantage thus far, making Carolina the only team with three defensemen to log PP goals thus far this season.

Storm Advisory

  • The Hurricanes paid a visit to Fort Bragg on this week in the spirit of Veteran’s Day. [Canes]
  • It’s a rough translation, but Martin Necas wrote a blog post in the Czech media in which he was very candid about his early-season play. [ISport]
