Game Notes

  • Tonight is the first game in the two game cross-conference series between the Hurricanes and the Blues. They’ll play again in early March in Carolina.
  • The Blues dominated the series with a 2-0-0 record last season. Overall, the Canes have not had much success in their history against St. Louis, going 29-41-5 with five ties.
  • Here’s a good or bad statistic, depending on how you look at it: the Canes have more shots on goal through 14 games (585) than any team since shots were first recorded in the 1955-56 NHL season. Despite this, the team is still 26th in the league in goals per game.
  • The Hurricanes are fourth in the NHL in total hits (353) thus far this season, a drastic improvement over last year’s finish at 27th in the league.
