Game Notes
- The Hurricanes recalled Clark Bishop last night, which most likely means that Jordan Staal is still recovering from a concussion. Bishop has recorded two points (1g, 1a) in 15 games with the big club.
- Tonight’s game is the third and final matchup between the Hurricanes and Red Wings this season.
- The Canes are 1-0-1 against the Wings thus far this season. They dominated the October 22nd game in Detroit by a score of 3-1, but fell in a game decided by the shootout on November 10th in PNC Arena.
- Petr Mrazek played 166 games for the Detroit Red Wings between 2013 and 2018, registering a 72-58-20 record with a 2.60 GAA and a .912 SV%.
- Justin Williams and Sebastian Aho are riding a five game point streak, while Teuvo Teravainen and Andrei Svechnikov have each posted a three game point streak. Aho and Svechnikov are both scoring at a goal per game rate in their respective streaks.
- The Hurricanes penalty kill has defused 36 of their last 38 odd-man situations over the last 13 games.

Apparently Zdeno Chara should have been wearing a red-hued non-contact jersey, but there wasn’t one biggest enough to fit him, per Cassidy.

- ICYMI, The Hurricanes have released Martin Necas to play for the Czech Republic in the World Junior Championships. He dominated the tournament last year with 11 points (3g, 8a) in eight games.
- Speaking of the World Juniors, the 2020 tournament will be held in the Czech Republic, and the logo is very familiar to one member of the Hurricanes:
