Game Notes
- Tonight marks the second of four meetings between the teams this season. The Canes will return to Capital One Arena on March 26th and the Capitals will be in Raleigh once more on March 28th.
- The Capitals took a 6-5 shootout win in Raleigh on December 14th in a game that the Hurricanes took a large early lead and blew it down the stretch.
-
Sebastian Aho posted four points (2g, 2a) in the December 14th game while Teuvo Teravainen tallied three points (1g, 2a).
- The Hurricanes recalled Clark Bishop and Janne Kuokkanen from the AHL yesterday in preparation for tonight’s game in Washington.
- Hurricanes shot watch: The team is average the most shots on goal per game (37.5) and the fewest shots allowed per game (27.9) for a league leading shot differential of 9.6 per game. The team has outshot opponents in 79 of 105 regular periods this season.
- Due to the rules surrounding the NHL’s Christmas vacation, which prohibits any team activity on Christmas Day or either of the two days surrounding it, the Hurricanes took their morning skate at PNC Arena this morning and will arrive in Washington this afternoon.
