Game Notes
- Tonight’s game is the second of four between the two teams this season. The Canes will travel to Newark in early February while the Devils will be in Raleigh a final time in April.
- The Canes took the first matchup in the season series 2-1 on November 18th. Justin Williams and Micheal Ferland got the team on the board while Curtis McElhinney kept the Devils off of it, making 33 saves.
- Curtis McElhinney has posted a 5-1-0 record against the Devils in his career, with a .924 SV% and a 1.58 GAA.
- In the first matchup against the Devils, the Canes scored two goals in the first 30 seconds of the game. It marked the fastest two goals to start a game in franchise history, and just the sixth time that a team scored two goals in the first 30 seconds of a game in NHL history. The eight seconds between Williams’ and Ferland’s goals was the fastest two goals in team history since relocation.
- Teuvo Teravainen will play his 200th career Hurricanes game today. He has been a stalwart with the Canes, posting 135 points (46g, 89a) in 199 games.
- Haydn Fleury practiced with the team in Raleigh yesterday but is unlikely to go tonight as he continues to recuperate from a concussion.
- ICYMI, Valentin Zykov was placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers yesterday. An announcement regarding his future will post today at noon.
