Game Notes

  • The Hurricanes trail all-time with a 31-39-10-1 record, including a 11-22-7-1 record in Detroit.
  • Tonight’s matchup marks the third and final matchup between the teams this season. The Canes won in December in Detroit and lost on home ice earlier this month.
  • The Wings won the season series in 2016-17, posting a 2-1-0 record.
  • Defenseman Justin Faulk led the team with four points (2g, 2a) in three games against Detroit last season. Faulk has earned 15 points (4g, 11a) in 15 career appearances against the Wings. The Canes need his offensive production tonight.
  • Jordan Staal (personal/family leave) is not expected to play tonight, according to Bill Peters following last night’s game.

Lines and Rosters

The Hurricanes did not skate this morning coming off of the game and trip to Detroit last night. After a flat showing, you can expect Bill Peters to make some changes to the lineup. As noted above, Staal will be out of the lineup again tonight for family reasons. The only switch we can predict is Darling between the pipes coming off of a game last night.

Sebastian Aho - Elias Lindholm - Teuvo Teravainen

Brock McGinn - Victor Rask - Justin Williams

Jeff Skinner - Derek Ryan - Lee Stempniak

The Red Wings are fresh off of losing a good young goaltender in Petr Mrazek in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers. Tomas Tatar and Justin Abdelkader both took maintenance days on Thursday against the Sabres, but will draw back in tonight. Mike Green, however, will be out tonight with an upper-body injury and may have played his final game with the Wings in advance of Monday’s trade deadline.
