Game Notes

  • The Hurricanes come into the game on a modest three game win streak. Despite their form, they still remain seven points in back of tonight’s opponent in the last Wild Card position. Oh, and the surging Florida Panthers are six points ahead with two games in hand.
  • The Hurricanes trail the Devils all-time with a 54-68-17-1 record, including a 24-37-7-1 record in New Jersey.
  • Tonight marks the last game in the four game series between the teams. The Canes have posted a 1-1-1 record against the Devils so far this season.
  • Warren Foegele had a very impressive NHL debut last night, posting a goal and an assist. His first shot found the back of the net, and his second shot assisted fellow Checkers teammate Valentin Zykov to his third goal in four games with the big club.
  • After a very trying season for the co-captain, Jordan Staal was the Hurricanes’ nominee for the Masterton Trophy.

Storm Advisory

  • Hurricanes prospect and Checkers forward Sergei Tolchinsky will apparently sign with CSKA Moscow of the KHL this summer.
