The Hurricanes will play their second game in as many nights as they take on the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. The Canes hit the road after a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night. Warren Foegele, in his first NHL game, scored his first NHL goal and added an assist on a goal by his Charlotte Checkers teammate, Valentin Zykov, for good measure. Zykov’s goal pushed his point total to five points in his four game call-up.
Cam Ward, in a rather untested night, stopped 19 shots. Look for Scott Darling to get the start tonight, although Bill Peters wouldn’t commit to a starter last night. The Hurricanes have scored more than three goals in each of their last five games, and here’s how they will look tonight:
Brock McGinn - Jordan Staal - Justin Williams
Jeff Skinner - Elias Lindholm - Phil Di Giuseppe
Valentin Zykov - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Warren Foegele - Derek Ryan - Joakim Nordstrom
Jaccob Slavin - Klas Dahlbeck
Noah Hanifin - Trevor van Riemsdyk
Haydn Fleury - Roland McKeown
Scott Darling
Cam Ward
The New Jersey Devils are clinging for life in the wild card race, holding on to a narrow one point lead over the Florida Panthers who hold a game in hand. Winners of back-to-back games, the Devils are 6-4-0 in their last ten games and are coming off a win over a strong Tampa Bay Lightning team. Keith Kinkaid has been on fire, stopping over 35 shots in each of his last two games. Marcus Johannson has returned to skating but will not be in tonight’s line-up. Here’s who will:
Taylor Hall - Nico Hischier - Jesper Bratt
Michael Grabner - Pavel Zacha - Kyle Palmieri
Patrick Maroon - Travis Zajac - Brian Gibbons
Blake Coleman - Brian Boyle - Stefan Noesen
Andy Greene - Sami Vatanen
John Moore - Damon Severson
Will Butcher - Mirco Mueller
Keith Kinkaid
Cory Schneider
