In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, the Carolina Hurricanes are offering an opportunity for fans to donate money, cleaning supplies, food and other necessities for the affected storm victims of Eastern North Carolina. Canes Country and SB Nation certainly encourage fans to donate to assist in the relief efforts from a storm which has flooded a good portion of the eastern part of the state and will require plenty of time and resources to help rebuild.
Beginning tomorrow and extending through the end of the week, the Hurricanes will be accepting donations at the PNC Arena box office for the following items:
- Gift cards to national big box stores (Walmart, Target, etc.)
- Baby items, including diapers, wipes, etc.
- Non-perishable dry goods and canned goods (pop top)
- Cleaning supplies including bleach, Lysol, Clorox wipes, etc.
- Hygiene products including soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, feminine products, deodorant
- Paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, etc.
- Pet supplies, including dog and cat food
- New pillows, sheets and towels
- Plastic storage bins
The times when the Hurricanes will be accepting donations are as follows:
- Tuesday, September 18, until 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 19, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday, September 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, September 21, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, September 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hurricanes players will be on hand to assist in collecting donations prior to the home preseason games on Wednesday and Friday nights, beginning at 5:45 on Wednesday and 6:15 on Friday. Owner Tom Dundon will also be on hand during portions of the day on Wednesday. Anyone making a donation by Friday will receive two ticket vouchers to attend either the Wednesday preseason game against the Tampa Bay Lightning or Friday’s matchup against the Washington Capitals.
For fans who wish to make monetary contributions to the recovery effort, donations are encouraged to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund or the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. You can also donate $10 to the Disaster Relief Fund by texting FLORENCE to 20222.
Later this week, the Hurricanes will be offering special lower-level seats to the home games against the New York Rangers on October 7 and the Vancouver Canucks on October 9. The tickets will be priced at $40 apiece, with all proceeds benefiting the state disaster relief fund. Further details about these special tickets will be available later this week.

CANES ANNOUNCE FLORENCE RELIEF EFFORTS
Team to hold Relief Drive; offers ticket special with proceeds to Relief Fund
Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will host a Hurricane Florence Relief Drive beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m. All fans donating items will receive vouchers for two tickets to either the team’s preseason game on Sept. 19 against Tampa Bay or Sept. 21 against Washington.
In addition, the Hurricanes will be offering a limited number of special $40 lower-level tickets to their regular-season home games on Oct. 7 against the NY Rangers and Oct. 9 against the Vancouver Canucks, with proceeds benefiting the State of North Carolina’s Disaster Relief Fund. Hurricane Florence Relief Drive item donations will be accepted at the box office at PNC Arena from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Hurricanes players will be on hand to assist with the collection of donation items from 5:45 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Owner Tom Dundon will also assist with the collection efforts on Wednesday.

No clothing will be accepted. The Hurricanes will work directly with the North Carolina State Office of Emergency Management to direct all collected items to the areas with the most need.
