We’re just a little over a week away from opening night! The 3-0 Carolina Hurricanes are taking on one of the biggest dynasties in the West tonight in Nasvhille. Tonight’s game feels like an important one with a couple of borderline NHL roster prospects on the roster.

Roster

What to Watch For

  • The Hurricanes will be starting Scott Darling. It will be interesting to see how he fares as the preseason begins to wind down.
  • Rod Brind’Amour is going with Warren Foegele, Janne Kuokkanen, Valentin Zykov, and Lucas Wallmark in the lineup tonight. All are guys who have had some success in Charlotte and are looking to crack the opening night lineup. Keep an eye on their performances tonight because it may have a huge bearing on the roster come next Thursday.
  • The team is somewhat lacking tonight in proven NHL forward talent. Lets see how the youngsters fare against one of the best teams in the NHL tonight in enemy territory.

Storm Advisory

  • Brian Gionta has retired after a long NHL career. [NBC]
  • The Canes and tonight’s opponent, the Predators, teamed up to provide Hurricane Florence relief. They will host a special game night auction to benefit the cause.
  • The Readvolution program starts today! [Hurricanes]
  • Skate with the Canes will be held on November 15th. [Hurricanes]
  • This is the stuff of nightmares.
  • Well... any takers? Both seem like a steal.
