Game Notes

  • The game tonight is on Fox Sports Southeast instead of the usual Fox Sports Carolinas.
  • Tonight’s matchup is the second of four games between the two teams this season. The Canes took the first matchup on New Year’s Eve by a convincing score of 3-1.
  • Jordan Martinook’s goal at 0:06 of the second period vs. the Flyers on Monday night marked the fastest goal at the start of a period in franchise history, beating out Ron Francis’ record of eight seconds.
  • Curtis McElhinney played his 200th career NHL game on Monday night. The 35-year-old made his NHL debut in October of 2007 and has posted a career .910 SV% and a 2.81 GAA.
  • Speaking of 200, Petr Mrazek’s next appearance will mark his 200th game in the show. The 26-year-old has recorded a .910 SV% and a 2.65 GAA, as well as 15 shutouts.
  • Andrei Svechnikov scored his 11th goal of the year on New Years Eve and now leads the 2018 Draft class and ranks second among all rookies in goals. Svechnikov has taken 106 shots this season, which is nearly 20 more than any other rookie in the league.
  • If you missed it yesterday, Sebastian Aho earned his first All-Star Game nod. Teuvo Teravainen could join him in San Jose through the Last Man In fan vote, which opens today at noon. Vote early and often!
