The Carolina Hurricanes close out their personal home and home with the Philadelphia Flyers (the Flyers actually played on Tuesday in Nashville) in South Philly on Thursday night. Jordan Staal remains out of the lineup tonight as Saku Maenalanen rejoins the Canes for his second career NHL game.
Petr Mrazek is expected back in net after Curtis McElhinney stifled the Flyers in Monday night’s 3-1 victory. Mrazek will be squaring off against the team that acquired him near last year’s trade deadline, prior to what was a disappointing 17-game appearance in a Flyers uniform down the stretch. The Canes will look to win for the third time in four games, as they seek to get on a roll that can vault them back into contention in the Eastern Conference Wildcard race.
And no, you aren’t seeing things. The Canes will be wearing their home reds again tonight while on the road.
The expected lines for Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour are as follows:
Brock McGinn - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Jordan Martinook - Lucas Wallmark - Justin Williams
Andrei Svechnikov - Victor Rask - Micheal Ferland
Warren Foegele - Clark Bishop - Saku Maenalanen
Jaccob Slavin - Brett Pesce
Calvin de Haan - Justin Faulk
Trevor van Riemsdyk - Dougie Hamilton
Petr Mrazek
Curtis McElhinney
Injuries and Scratches: Haydn Fleury (concussion), Jordan Staal (upper body)
The Philadelphia Flyers skid into Thursday night riding a four-game losing streak as they have tumbled to the very bottom of the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers have scored two goals over their last three contests while yielding nine goals total in the three games. Injury wise, Andrew MacDonald will miss tonight’s game due to an undisclosed injury.
Michal Neuvirth, who entered Monday’s game in relief of starter Carter Hart after the Canes jumped out to a 3-0 lead, will get the start in net tonight.
Below is the expected lineup for the Flyers:
Claude Giroux - Sean Couturier - Travis Konecny
Michael Raffl - Scott Laughton - Jakub Voracek
James van Riemsdyk - Jordan Weal - Wayne Simmonds
Oskar Lindblom - Phil Varone - Dale Weise
Ivan Provorov - Travis Sanheim
Shayne Gostisbehere - Radko Gudas
Robert Hagg - Christian Folin
Michal Neuvirth
Carter Hart
Injuries and Scratches: Andrew MacDonald (undisclosed), Nolan Patrick (upper body)
