Carolina Hurricanes 2019-20 Season Predictions

The Canes Country staff’s annual exercise in futility is back again for another season of inevitably wrong predictions.

Jamie Kellner

Last season, the Carolina Hurricanes finally broke the longest playoff drought in the NHL in style, advancing to the conference final for the third time in team history. As the new season begins, with plenty of new faces and offseason turnover now in the rear view mirror, it’s time to see if the Canes can do it again.

As is our tradition, prior to every season we present our predictions, and we changed a couple of things this year to be more Canes-specific. Below you’ll find a table of our projected finish for teams in the Metro and who we think will make the playoffs out of the Eastern Conference. Then, we’ll take a shot at predicting point totals for the Hurricanes, give our picks for the leading scorers (spoiler: one name appears a whole lot of times), offer our predictions for the Stanley Cup Final, and go on the record with our pick to raise the chalice come June.

And here we go! First up: our Metro and playoff predictions. An asterisk denotes a projected playoff team.
