Carolina Hurricanes vs. Calgary Flames: Lineups and Game Discussion

The Canes look for another home victory against some familiar faces.

Jamie Kellner

The Carolina Hurricanes resume their homestand tonight with the one and only visit of the season from the Calgary Flames. Carolina will be seeking their first win on home ice against the Flames since January of 2016 as they face some familiar faces on the other bench. Bill Peters, Noah Hanifin, and Elias Lindholm are joined in their return by Derek Ryan.

Brock McGinn and company will look to provide more tricks than treats to their visitors in the lead up to Halloween.

The Canes will again bring a full complement of 12 forwards into play tonight with the immediate recall of Brian Gibbons. Additionally, Petr Mrazek enters action with two shutouts in his last three appearances. Below is a look at what Rod Brind’Amour’s lineup will look like:

Nino Niederreiter - Jordan Staal - Warren Foegele
Andrei Svechnikov - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Ryan Dzingel - Erik Haula - Martin Necas
Brock McGinn - Lucas Wallmark - Brian Gibbons

Jaccob Slavin - Dougie Hamilton
Jake Gardiner - Brett Pesce
Joel Edmundson - Trevor van Riemsdyk

Petr Mrazek
James Reimer

Injuries and Scratches: Haydn Fleury (healthy), Jordan Martinook (core muscle)

The Flames come to Raleigh directly following their outdoor game experience in the NHL Heritage Classic in Regina, Saskatchewan on Saturday night with the Winnipeg Jets. Not quite off to the blistering start they began with a season ago, the Flames remain a contender in the Pacific Division.

The returning former Canes look forward to their opportunity against their old mates.

Head coach Bill Peters will ice three former Hurricanes, as the Flames will roll with the lineup below to start:

Alan Quine - Sean Monahan - Sam Bennett
Milan Lucic - Mikael Backlund - Michael Frolik
Andrew Mangiapane - Derek Ryan - Tobias Rieder

Mark Giordano - T.J. Brodie
Noah Hanifin - Travis Hamonic
Oliver Kylington - Rasmus Andersson
