Game Notes
- The Canes and the Senators are meeting for the second game in a row, and their second of three matchups this season. Ottawa will be back in Raleigh on March 21 to finish out the season series.
- The Hurricanes are 22-8-5 in their last 35 games against the Senators. Last season, Carolina won the series 2-1-0. Ottawa won the first game between the two teams this year, a 4-1 victory Saturday night.
- Monday night’s game against Ottawa will be Rod Brind’Amour’s 100th game as the Hurricanes head coach. Brind’Amour was the fastest coach in franchise history to 20, 30, 40 and 50 wins. With a win against the Senators Monday night, Brind’Amour would tie Peter Laviolette’s franchise record for most points through 100 games.
- Similar to Brind’Amour’s milestone, Andrei Svechnikov will be playing in his 100th NHL game Monday and his 100th game with the Hurricanes. Svechnikov’s 63 points through 99 games are second most to only Jeff Skinner in Hurricanes history (since relocation).
- Defenseman Dougie Hamilton will also be playing his 100th game in a Hurricanes uniform Monday night. Hamilton has recorded 25 goals in his 99 games with the Canes.
- Svechnikov scored the Canes’ lone goal Saturday against Ottawa, marking the 27th goal of his young career. Svechnikov is tied with Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk for the most goals among members of the 2018 NHL Draft class.
Storm Advisory
- Connor McDavid is very good at hockey. With a hat trick against Anaheim Sunday, McDavid became the 13th fastest player in NHL history to 400 points.
