The dilemma of Haydn Fleury

The year was 2014 and the Carolina Hurricanes selected promising defenseman, Haydn Fleury in the first round. About 5 years later, Haydn is the 7th d-man for the Canes behind a stacked defense. He's improved his two-way gam along with his offense but there's just no room for him. This begs the question, what should we do with Haydn.

There are 3 scenarios involving him. The first is trading TvR or a left handed defenseman like Jake Gardiner or Joel Edmundson which is, in my book, a horrible call. Those three are having success here. Joel brings physicality, Jake brings offense, and TvR brings a nice two way game.

The second scenario is alternating TvR and Haydn like Rod did last year with Brock, Saku, and Kegger. The thing is that is you put in Haydn, there will be four lefties and two righties which affects at least one defensive pairing.

Finally, the third is trading Haydn Fleury for picks, prospects, or a top 6 forward.

Trading Haydn will be the most beneficial option as we can gain assets in the future for a guy that may sit in the press box for most of the season.
