Game Notes

  • The Hurricanes and Rangers are meeting for the second of four meetings this season. The Canes will be in New York again in December, while the Rangers will be in Raleigh in February to close out the season series.
  • The Rangers lead the season series after picking up a 4-2 win in PNC Arena on 11/7. Dougie Hamilton and Sebastian Aho scored for Carolina. The Canes outshot the Rangers 47-19 but still couldn’t pull out a win as Henrik Lundqvist turned back the clock in making 45 saves.
  • That’s still the most saves Lundqvist has made in a game this year, through 14 starts.
  • The Hurricanes closed the season series in 2018-19 with a 3-0 road win in New York, snapping a streak of 16 consecutive losses in Madison Square Garden.
  • Andrei Svechnikov enters tonight’s matchup riding an eight-game point streak, becoming the first teenager in team history (since relocation) to record a point streak of eight or more games. He recorded 37 points in his rookie campaign, and needed 59 games to each 27 points. This season, he’s hit the 27 point mark in just 24 games. He is second in points among Russian-born NHL players this season.
  • Sebastian Aho picked up a goal and an assist against Detroit to extend his point streak to four games. He’s now picked up 14 points (9g, 5a) in 12 games during November.
